My name is Cesareo Contreras and I'm a reporter with The Milford Daily News and The MetroWest Daily News.
I'm working on a story about flooding in the area and requesting cities and towns in our coverage area to send over any documented flooding complaints in the past 10 years.
Below please find the public records request I'm asking the town of Southborough to fulfill.
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like me to clarify
Under the Massachusetts Public Records Act § 66-10 et seq., I am requesting a list of all complaints filed with municipal departments related to flooding for the past 10 years.
Specifically, I am requesting the following information:
The date of the complaints
Description of the complaints
Locations of flooding mentioned in the complaints
Department that received the complaints
Description of response to the complaints
I am requesting this list be sent to me by email in a machine-readable, CSV format.
If there are any fees for searching or copying these records, please inform me. However, I would also like to request a waiver of all fees in that the disclosure of the requested information is in the public interest and will contribute significantly to the public’s understanding of flooding in the area. This information is not being sought for commercial purposes and will be used in a piece I’m writing for the MetroWest Daily News.
The Massachusetts Public Records Act requires a response to this request within 10 days. If access to the records I am requesting will take longer than this amount of time, please contact me with information about when I might expect copies or the ability to inspect the requested records. My email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
and my phone number is 774-276-7511.
If you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.
Thank you for considering my request.
